Q&A with Chris Brunnen Photography

Hello! Please give us a brief introduction to your business and the products you offer.

I’m a full time professional, commercial and advertising photographer. At the markets I sell my books, mounted and framed photographs and jigsaw puzzles of local area aerial photographs.

How long have you been going and how did the business come about?

I started my own business and opened my studio in 1986 with my first aerial photography flight the following year.

What's your favourite thing about what you do?

Flying around the South of England in a helicopter is hard to beat.

What's your least favourite thing?

Celery (I meant about running your business Chris!)

When you're working but not at events, what does a typical day look like?

Studio or location photography is the main stay of my business, photographing products for catalogues or advertising and websites.

What's the soundtrack to your day? i.e. do you listen to music? Radio? Podcasts?

Streaming progressive trance.

What do you like about trading at markets?

It’s great to meet people and lovely to think they want to hang my pictures on their wall or spend hours completing one of my jigsaws.

Do you have a favourite product?

I started doing markets to promote my first book, that lead on to everything else. Although I’ve sold out I do still sell my second book and I’m considering updating the first one and getting a re-print.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I love light, both the optics and physics. I enjoy controlling light in the studio with spots, floods, soft boxes and light shapers… or seeing it in nature.

Finally, what do you enjoy getting up to when you're not working?

I’m a bit of a live music fan. A good evening is watching a band and drinking a pint.
